Fine 1000 euros if you take pebbles from this beach

The name of the famous beach in Skiathos comes from the round white pebbles, which the locals call “lalaria”, and which are found only in this area.

Lalaria Beach is well known for its pebbles and is visited by many tourists in the summer. It is accessed by boats moored in the old port of the island. The waters are crystal clear and dark blue.

Taking pebbles as souvenirs was a risk to the natural beauty of the beach, so now there is a regulation prohibiting their collection. Violators face a fine of 1,000 euros.

Stepping onto the beach, you immediately understand what makes it so special. Under your feet roll small white-blue pebbles, smooth and soft to the touch. Above you rises an almost vertical cliff that cuts off a long bay from the rest of the island. And before you is an endless view of the blue-azure Aegean Sea.

The bay can only be reached from the sea. Lalaria Beach is unlike any other beach on the island of Skiathos. Its wild rocky landscape is so different from the low green hills of the rest of the island.

An atmosphere of solitude and tranquility reigns in this place, and with it a spirit of adventure. After all, sailing not far from the north-eastern coast Skiathosyou will encounter a number of other lagoons and even sea caves.

But among all the beaches of the island, Lalaria rightfully takes first place. There is something mystical and dramatic in its nature at the same time. On one side of the beach, a huge rock juts out into the sea Tripia Petrainside which there is a natural passage. You can swim through it yourself or in a kayak.
