US President Joe Biden has tested positive for COVID-19, he announced on X:
“I will remain in isolation until I recover, and in the meantime I will continue to work to do the job of the American people.”
He thanked everyone for the good wishes. How writes Biden's illness was reported to CNN by UnidosUS President and CEO Janet Murguia, where Biden was scheduled to speak at the group's conference in Las Vegas on Wednesday. Murguia said:
“I just got off the phone with President Biden. And he shared his deep disappointment that he couldn't join us this afternoon. The president has been out at a lot of events, as we all know, and he just tested positive for Covid.”
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre confirmed that Biden had tested positive for the coronavirus and noted that the US president had been vaccinated and was experiencing only mild symptoms.
The last time a US president tested positive for coronavirus was in 2022.
