Authorities have arrested a man responsible for a fire that broke out in Tay, a suburb of Waribobi in the capital yesterday.
He was arrested by members of the fire department's arson unit. The detainee was imposed an administrative fine of 3,300 euros, and today he is expected to be taken to the Athens criminal prosecutor's office to testify.
The Waribobi fire, which broke out late on Thursday, is now under control, according to the fire service. It is noted that the fire occurred on Thursday evening. Low vegetation broke out in the area of Thea, at the foot of Mount Parnitha. Dry grass and bushes started to burn. No houses were reportedly damaged or damaged.
To extinguish the fire, 45 firefighters arrived at the scene with 3 groups of foot units of the 1st EMODE, 11 vehicles, 3 airplanes and 3 helicopters, while assistance was also provided by water carriers OTA.
