Scientists are sounding the alarm about the serious health consequences of eating junk food.
Scientists from Deakin University (Australia) analyzed data from approximately 10 million people participating in 14 separate studies.
The result is hard-hitting: evidence has been established and confirmed that there is a serious risk of death due to consumption of unhealthy food. The list includes diagnoses of deaths from cancer and diseases of the cardiovascular system.
According to healthstat.gr, the most common outcomes of systematic junk food consumption are breast cancer, colon cancer and prostate cancer. Next come tumors of the central nervous system, chronic lymphocytic leukemia and pancreatic cancer. A team of scientists discovered that the likelihood of dying from cardiovascular disease increases by 50% among people who ate a lot of junk food.
Next on the list are mental health issues such as irregular sleep, anxiety and depression. People who ate unhealthy foods frequently were 53% more likely to experience anxiety. This is followed by respiratory problems such as asthma, and then cardiovascular disease, which develops due to hypertension and high cholesterol.
The list also included Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, obesity, hyperglycemia, metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes. Development risk type 2 diabetes increased by 12% due to unhealthy food, the researchers note, publishing the material in the British Medical Journal (BMJ).
Dr Charlotte Gupta, from Central Queensland University in Australia, said: “We know that these products not considered healthybut this analysis sheds more light on whether how harmful they can be“
Junk foods, processed foods and processed foods mostly contain chemicals, dyes, sweeteners and preservatives that extend their shelf life. However, this ultimately has a detrimental effect on human health.
