After a coordinated effort, officers from the property protection department of the Thessaloniki Police Department proceeded to arrest four people involved in cigarette smuggling.
These are foreigners aged 20, 36, 17 and 37 who have been charged with violating the Customs Code and giving false testimony. The accused were taken to the prosecutor’s office.
As it turned out during the investigation, those arrested in the center of Thessaloniki had a warehouse where they hid contraband tobacco products for the purpose of subsequent marketing and distribution. 5965 packs of cigarettes and ten packs of tobacco were confiscated, which did not have an excise stamp. In addition, it was established that the 17-year-old and 36-year-old men had already been involved in some cases in the past and were “acquainted” with the police.
