A 25-year-old mother from Mali yesterday had 9 babies, 5 girls and 4 boys, although the ultrasound scan detected only 7, according to AMPE.
The attention of the authorities of the West African state was attracted by a seemingly purely family event – the pregnancy of 25-year-old Halmiya Cisse. As it turned out, seven children were to be born at once. In March, doctors stated that the pregnant woman needed special supervision, and with the help of the authorities, the woman was sent to a hospital in the northwest of the African continent. There, experts confirmed that, according to ultrasound, there are seven babies in the woman’s womb.
In the process of caesarean section, Halmia gave birth not to 7, but to as many as 9 children, which shocked even experienced doctors and became famous. According to Reuters, the Minister of Health of Mali Fanta Sibi personally made a statement about the event: “The newborns (five girls and four boys) and the mother are in perfect order.”
