The Maltese authorities want to pay extra for a vacation in their country for every foreign tourist who spends at least three days in it, DW reports, citing officials from the Ministry of Tourism.
To get an attractive bonus, those planning a vacation on the island need only to book a room through the local hotel of their choice. Tourists wishing to relax in five-star hotels can expect to receive 100 euros, and the hotel will add the same amount, that is, a total of 200 euros will be obtained. Guests of four-star hotels will receive 150 euros, and three-star hotels – 100 euros.
As you know, in the economy of Malta tourism occupies 27%, as evidenced by the data of the World Tourism and Travel Council. The aim of the action is to get ahead of the competing directions.
Clayton Bartolo, Minister of Tourism, announced the attractive scheme on Friday. He also said that the main restrictions on coronavirus are expected to be lifted by June 1. So the lucky ones who book summer vacations directly through local hotels will receive a tangible cash bonus.
