Hair: 40-year-old man shoots 69-year-old father in head with harpoon

The body found in Pefkakia Volos has been identified as that of a 40-year-old man who attacked his 69-year-old father on Tuesday morning, shooting him in the head with a speargun, according to local media.

The scene where the lifeless body of the criminal was found was the moped on which he had escaped. Everything points to the fact that the culprit of the attack jumped off the cliff to commit suicide.

Earlier, the authorities were alerted after information was received about the body of a man in his 40s, found floating in the sea area of ​​Pefkakia in Alykes. Ambulance crews, the Central Port Authority of Volos and forensic experts surrounded the scene to establish the identity of the man. According to taxydromos.gr, the body has been identified and indeed belongs to the son of the injured man.

The two-wheeled vehicle on which the criminal escaped was also found at the spot where the lifeless body was found. More detailed information about the exact cause of the man's death is expected after an autopsy.

What happened

On Tuesday morning (17.09.2024), the son and father had an argument, the son took an underwater gun with a harpoon and shot his father in the chest. Then he took out the harpoon, reloaded the gun (according to another version, he took a second gun) and fired a second shot, hitting his father behind the ear, causing the harpoon to come out of the other side of the skull.

The neighbors called an ambulance and took the victim to the hospital, while the father was conscious, contacted others, spoke and understood everything. It is characteristic that the rescuers found themselves in an unprecedented situation, as they had to take the victim to the Volos hospital in an upright position so as not to aggravate the injuries.

The victim underwent a lengthy operation to remove the harpoon from his head and was hospitalized in the intensive care unit in serious condition. It is known that the criminal has been missing since then.

Sad backstory

In 2016, according to the same source, the perpetrator’s brother, a 50-year-old bodybuilding champion, died of a heart attack. The perpetrator was rumored to have had serious psychological problems and had been hospitalized three times in a psychiatric clinic at Volos Hospital. The same reports say he was not taking his medication and was uncontrollable as a result. Although he often argued with his father, this time the situation clearly got out of hand.
