A couple from Athens dined in restaurants in Lamia and systematically did not pay their bill.
According to the website lamiareport.gr, the young couple went to restaurants, ordered food, and then left without paying.
“There’s something wrong with the cards” and “I’m waiting for a transfer” are the most common excuses restaurant staff hear.
The couple reportedly dined at a pizzeria on August 22. When the waitress wasn't at her post, they left without paying. However, the company manager looked for them, found them, and asked: “Why did you leave without paying?»to which they received assurances in response that citizens “they will come back soon and pay“, which, of course, did not happen.
After publication of the incident in local media hotelwhere the young couple had moved in, told the pizzeria ownerthat they were staying with him. Then the pizzeria employee demanded that the amount owed to them be paid, which was eventually done.
However, the hotel was also unlucky: after moving out, the couple left behind a debt of 450 euros..
Surprisingly, last night the young couple returned to Lamia again, where they dined at the central tavern, and again left without paying the bill.
The management called the police, and eventually the two were identified. The authorities are expected to find and punish the “freeloaders” soon.
