Marios Athanasiou in shock: he witnessed a rape in Nea Filadelfia

Famous Greek actor Marios Athanasiou shared on social media how he saw the girl who was raped in Nea Filadelfia lying naked on Dekelias Avenue surrounded by people and police who did not even bother to take the victim to a safer place or cover her with anything!

Marios Athanasiou recently experienced a very difficult incident in the Nea Filadelfia area. The actor, shocked, shared the story of a girl who became a victim of rape on his social network.

I witnessed a very serious incident in Nea Filadelfeia

“There was a girl who had been raped and she was lying naked in one of the central areas on the highway with people trying to help and the police.” The first thing I would like to comment on is… It seems inconceivable to me how it is possible that the police – and I am not talking about good and bad police – did not take steps to allow the girl to be in a more protected place. “It has nothing to do with police training. It has to do with where you are, if you're smart or stupid enough to realize that a girl can't be naked in the street. A blanket… And cars looking on with curiosity… It boggles my mind.”

Laws must be tightened

“If I had made a video, which, for obvious reasons, I didn’t, we would be talking about other things now. In light of these incidents, we will talk again about tougher laws. It is not in my power, it is something we are going to do together. Rape, violence and child abuse should have the harshest punishment that can exist in this country. And it shouldn't be applied because that's the status quo – if you're found guilty, you get the lightest sentence there is in the criminal code.”

Of course, all this means one very simple thing: pUnder the New Democracy government, everyone does what they want, where they want, and how they want. There is no sense of law and order and now everyone is in danger from everyone in a society that has morally collapsed. M. Athanasiou himself is shocked and calls for tougher punishments, emphasizing that «The discussion is not purely partisan. It is more of a political and social nature.”

“We did it, others did it, it's none of my business who did it. This is independent, it concerns our children, our society, our brothers. Okay, we made a mistake. It's not my job to make videos and prove whether I'm right or wrong. We talk about something happening and how we can change it. If you can change it, you will change it.

If we can change it, we can change it. I think that should change yesterday. And I'm not going to discuss anything anymore. Another time we'll talk about the reactions you like to make here on the Internet, but that's another story that doesn't concern me.

I tried to make this video as neutral to the event as possible because I didn't want to swear too much in it. But I hope that at some point this thing can at least be changed in the criminal code or in the state's preparation for such cases. Because I think it is unlikely that this will change in every family and in every home,” he said, ending the video.

From the editor

Despite the fact that the number of police officers under New Democracy has effectively doubled, reaching 300 thousand people (which for a country with a population of 10 million is simply an exorbitant figure), the number of crimes has not decreased, but on the contrary, has increased. From this we can conclude that the problem not among officials and not even among the patrolmen, investigators and other police officers, and as for their work. Maybe the police leadership should select employees not based on friendship or family ties, but on their business qualities?

In addition, it should be noted that judges and prosecutors are not very effective, their sentences are lenient, and their work is ineffective. penitentiaryX institutions, which are also in short supply, resulting in robbers, murderers and other persons who have committed serious crimes being released after 4-7 years instead of 10-20 years.

The author is not an expert in this matter, but as a resident of Greece he feels the full weight of the crime situation in the country. In addition, he is a taxpayer who cares where and how the money he pays is spent.
