The Mount Pangaeo fire is now in its sixth day, with 280 firefighters, 25 vehicles, 46 walking groups and many volunteers fighting it. The fire is still far from residential areas, but it is growing steadily, causing concern for the fire brigade.
Once again, all firefighters are deployed to the fronts over Mesoropi and Platanotopos in Kavala, as well as Rodolivos and Proti Serres. Since early morning, 7 aircraft, 6 helicopters and 1 plane have been dropping water. The prevailing calm today is helping the firefighting efforts.
Preventive fire zones are being created around the villages of Pangeo.
