British tourist goes missing on Rhodes island

The 48-year-old British tourist has been missing since Wednesday as he was spending his summer holidays on the island of Rhodes with relatives.

According to information Mediaon Wednesday afternoon, a man went swimming with his niece at Theologou Beach (Tholos). At some point, the girl walked away, and since he showed no signs of life, she returned to the beach to search. Not finding him, she reported him to the police.

The disappearance of the British tourist has put port and other authorities on alert, with a search and rescue operation launched and a SAR alert issued to boat owners in the area in case they spot the man.

The British tourist arrived in Rhodes for a holiday with relatives a few days ago. By Thursday afternoon, there had been no positive results from the search operation.
