Almost tragic incident occurred on Andros: car could not enter the ferry (video)

Entering the ferry in Andros, the car was unable to overcome the force of wind resistance and enter the gangway. The captain did not wait for the unlucky passengers and hurried off.

The car, which had driven into the water with its front wheels, was preventing the ramp from being raised, so the passengers pushed it onto the shore with all their might and hurried aboard the departing vessel. Meanwhile, the car remained at the very edge of the pier, risking falling into the sea.

The vessel in question is the Saos Ferries SAONISOS, which docked at the port of Gavrio late Thursday evening. After disembarking passengers, the ferry was hit by bad weather, as a result of which the car could not take its place on board. As always, caring citizens came to the rescue, and only by a miracle, none of them, like the vehicle, ended up in the sea.

According to witnesses, the captain realized that during loading the bad weather factor intervened – the wind force reached 7-8 points on the Beaufort scale. And he decided to start his route in the direction of Karisto without the passengers who had not yet boarded.

At that moment, a car was at the edge of the pier. Unable to move any further, the passengers and workers on board tried to push it back, even as the ship was moving away. Then, as the video shows, they ran aboard, risking their lives.

During the incident, three vehicles and seven passengers were unable to board the ship, and port authorities will conduct an investigation to clarify all the circumstances of the incident.

The company has made arrangements for passengers who did not board the ferry to stay overnight and travel to their destination on the first route on Friday morning.
