Terrorist attack in Somalia – about a hundred people killed and wounded (video)

At least 32 people were killed on a beach in the Somali capital Mogadishu on Friday in an attack by a suicide bomber and gunmen.

Almost a hundred people were killed and wounded, reports The BBC cited police spokesman Abdifatah Adan Hasan as saying that some of the 63 wounded were in serious condition.

People were in a panic, eyewitnesses said, because it was difficult to understand what was happening – first there was an explosion, then there was shooting. According to a police spokesman, at least five people were responsible for the attack. Three of them were killed, one blew himself up, and one was captured alive.

Local media reported that the attack was carried out by al-Shabab militants, who control much of southern and central Somalia. The group, linked to al-Qaeda, has waged a brutal insurgency against Somalia's UN-backed government for nearly 20 years.
