A 39-year-old man arrested for attempted rape and robbery at a Roma camp in Pyrgos will appear in court.
A 13-year-old girl who was at the scene of the crime reported it to the police, and a few hours later, police officers entered the camp to arrest the criminal. He attempted to rape her 34-year-old aunt, and when he failed, he robbed her at knifepoint. Meanwhile, he tried to stop the girl, who ran away to call for help.
The incident took place shortly before midnight on Monday at a Roma camp in Pyrgos. The girl, who saw a man attack her aunt, managed to escape despite the man trying to stop her by tearing her blouse and holding out a knife he was holding.
After failing to rape the woman, the man reportedly turned his knife on her to steal 100 euros.
The offender has been arrested and is expected to be brought before Prosecutor Ilia.
