Only 10% of Greeks say they are “happy” while 60% want to live in another country

Only one in ten Greeks says they are satisfied with their daily life, while six in ten would like to live in another country, according to a global survey, “Aspirations – Dreams – Expectations”, conducted by the international network IRIS (International Research Institutes) with the participation, on behalf of Greece, of Focus Bari.

In addition, seven out of ten Greeks do not believe that they have “common dream” while 71% believe that Greeks are making demands on their country because they believe that its strong value system has been lost. As such, they expect Greece to emphasize its history and values ​​in order to feel secure and proud of itself.

Six out of ten Greeks would like, if they had the opportunity, to live in another country, preferably Switzerland, the USA, Italy and others. According to the study, citizens even in the most developed countries do not seem to want to be satisfied with achieving their goals in everyday life. Despite the respondents' reluctance, despite the difficulties in achieving their goals, the current image of their country is not a nightmare for their everyday life.
Citizens feel a strong need to improve their quality of life and raise their standard of living, both at the personal level and in the context of broader government and political forces. For this reason, it is clear that all citizens, regardless of country, want their government to focus more on the problems of its citizens, rather than on its global influence.

None of the countries listed offer an ideal life to their citizens. This explains the fact that every second respondent would prefer to immigrate to another country if given the opportunity

Only 9% Greeks admit that their daily life corresponds to their desires, and only 4% say that today's Greece is their dream country. Greeks believe that their country lacks cohesion among citizens, as 7 out of 10 (71%) say that they lack a common goal and express a need to feel proud of their country again.

Citizens believe that improving economic conditions is necessary to improve their quality of life, which is also a direct requirement for overcoming daily problems in vital matters. In addition, they point to the need for radical changes in the sphere basic public goodsprimarily in health care, but also in education, employment and justice, to guarantee direct and equal access for all.
The above measures will provide them with a decent standard of living and strengthen their psychology (to have or be able to have dreams and goals), as well as improve their family life (comfort), which has suffered from the stress associated with the struggle for daily survival.

It is worth noting that 58% of respondents believe that Greece should primarily take care of the Greeks. To do this, according to citizens, the government and the central political authority as a whole should:

• take their needs into account
• be sensitive to their problems
• ensure the smooth functioning of the country in vital sectors (economy, health care, education, justice).

The Greeks believe that if their country embraces its strong value system (national unity – equality – democracy), it will have guarantees of becoming an equal member of the European Union.

Finally, 61% of citizens express a desire to live in another country, giving preference to Switzerland – a Central European country with the highest quality of life in the world and a strong economic system. (source: tvxs.gr)

P.S. I am not surprised by the results of this poll. The Greeks have been going through a difficult period in their history for at least the last 2 millennia, starting from ancient times.
