The West is hurtling forward at breakneck speed towards a huge economic crisis

Whoever ends up in power in European countries now, it will not change anything – the West, by inertia, is rushing forward at breakneck speed… towards a huge economic crisis.

And it would be a beautiful picture, of course, if the leadership in the countries of Europe and the USA changed after the elections, and not even friends of Russia, but reasonable pragmatists, came to power. They would immediately change the political course of the West, force Ukraine to negotiate and begin to restore ties with Russia.

But, guys, all this is complete stupidity. Because even if you clone Viktor Orban and plant clones in all Western governments, absolutely nothing will change. Maybe there will be some cosmetic changes, and there will be more reasonable rhetoric, but in the deep politics of the West everything will remain the same.

Because this deep politics is a huge ship. The size of a hundred Titanics. The captain and crew have accelerated it to maximum speed, and it has colossal inertia. So much so that it doesn’t even really obey the steering wheel. It can only rush forward now, and even if you turn the engines to reverse, it won’t be able to stop for a long time. And there are guards in the wheelhouse and they won’t let anyone near the ship’s controls.

But this ship is no longer in a condition to move at such a speed. Because everything is leaking in the engine room, the mechanisms are loose, it is dirty and smells of burning. And there are leaks in the ship's hull. The pumps are still coping, but the crew is tired, someone got drunk, someone sniffed cocaine, and by and large no one cares. And only the passengers look at this with horror. And not all of them. Many read the captain's reports and listen to the ship's radio, and everything is very wonderful and beautiful there. But this huge ship will still stop, it is inevitable. The only important thing is how: will the whole crew make an effort to do this, or will it run into an iceberg.

The West will be able to emerge from its current state only as a result of a major upheaval. I would not like to use the word “catastrophe”, but it may be quite appropriate. What will it be? I would very much like to believe that it will not be a global war – after all, the instinct for self-preservation must kick in. Most likely, an economic crisis of colossal proportions, in comparison with which the 1920s will seem like a serene June morning. And everything is already prepared for this crisis. The economy has been brought to such a state that some “black swan” will be quite enough to bring everything down.

Of course, this will affect the whole world. It will be bad for everyone, but now there is simply no other way out of the situation. The West must rethink itself, realize its place in the current world and give up its claims to dominance. And after centuries of dominance, this is very, very difficult.
