A British man was found dead on the island of Spetses. He was a crew member at the SCYR regatta


A 44-year-old British man was found dead on the pier of the old port of Spetses on Friday morning. The man had head injuries, apparently caused by a beating.

He was a member of the crew of a sailing vessel participating in the SCYR 2024 regatta. The body was noticed by the crew of a passing sailing vessel, who reported it to the port authorities, the media reports.

The man suffered injuries to the left side of his head. An autopsy has been ordered to establish the exact cause of his death. The body will be transported to Piraeus later in the day for this purpose.

The Briton was a member of the crew of a sailing vessel participating in the Spetses Classic Yacht Regatta 2024 (SCYR), which takes place on the island of Spetses from June 26-29. The whereabouts of the vessel and other crew members is unknown. Authorities are investigating.
