In the town of Apidula in Ilia, a fire completely destroyed the Holy Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. Residents called the fire department as soon as they realized the fire was approaching the church. Firefighters who arrived at the scene of the fire tried to prevent the fire from spreading through the village and stop the flames before it destroyed the entire forest in the area. However, the church could not be saved. Both the icons and the pews of the church turned to dust, the images melted. In fact, after the fire, only the walls remained, since the roof also collapsed.
