The British agency Reuters published a draft joint communiqué of the participants of the Global Peace Summit. This is not an official document yet, it will appear a little later.
However, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine said that the summit communiqué is already ready and open for signing even for those countries that did not come to the peace conference. The full text of the document has been published on the website of the President of Ukraine. The main emphasis of the document: the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant must be under the control of Ukraine, a full exchange of prisoners and the return of children, the involvement of “all parties” and food security.
The document notes that any use of nuclear energy and nuclear installations must be safe, secure, protected and environmentally friendly:
“Ukrainian nuclear power plants and installations, in particular the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, must operate safely and securely under the full sovereign control of Ukraine and in accordance with the principles of the IAEA and under its supervision.”
It is also emphasized that any threat or use of nuclear weapons in a war against Ukraine is unacceptable.
Regarding food security, it is noted that it is critically important for it free, complete and safe commercial shipping, as well as access to seaports of the Black and Azov Seas (its coast is now occupied). Attacks on merchant ships in ports and along the entire route, as well as attacks against civilian ports and port infrastructure, are unacceptable.
The document emphasizes that all prisoners of war must be released through a full exchange, all deported and illegally displaced Ukrainian children, as well as all Ukrainian civilians illegally detained must be returned to Ukraine.
In a statement from Reuters There is a paragraph according to which the countries participating in the summit believe: “Achieving peace requires involvement and dialogue between all parties.” Accordingly, the signatories decided to “take concrete steps in the future in the above areas with the subsequent involvement of representatives of all parties.” In conclusion it says:
“The UN Charter, including the principles of respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of all states, can and does serve as the basis for achieving a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine.”
How reports correspondent for Channel 24, 80 countries and 4 organizations signed a communique at the peace summit in Switzerland. The list of countries that signed the photo above includes Hungary, Slovakia, Serbia and Türkiye. The document was not signed by: Saudi Arabia, Thailand, India, Mexico, Armenia, South Africa, Brazil and the UAE.
The Peace Summit was attended by 101 countries and international organizations from all continents. Two thirds of the participating countries are represented at the highest level.
President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky assured at the final press conference that work on holding the second world summit continues, and it will happen in months, not years:
“We are at war. We have no time for long-term work. Moving towards peace means acting quickly. Preparation for that day will take months, not years. And when the plan is ready, and every step is worked out, then the way will open for a second Peace Summit , and consequently, to the end of the war.”
