Greek investment in Romania in 2023 reaches 2.44 billion euros


Greece is among the top five countries investing in Romania in 2023, having ranked eighth the year before.

The release of the Romanian Economic and Business Development Bulletin, prepared by the Directorate of Economic and Trade Affairs of the Greek Embassy in Bucharest, states that, according to the recently announced data of the Romanian Commercial Registry Service (ONRC) for 2023, Greece is in 5th place in the relevant list , demonstrating an increase in invested capital and the number of registered enterprises.

The total volume of investments/FDI (επενδύσεις/FDI Stock) in Romania reached 54.3 billion euros in December 2023 (52.3 billion euros in 2022, an increase of 3.8%), and the total number of companies with foreign capital reached 251,226 (244,215 in 2022), an increase of 7,011 enterprises.

Total Greek investment/foreign direct investment stock in Romania during the same period reached €2.44 billion (compared to €1.5 billion in 2022, an increase of 59.5%, mainly due to the acquisition of Enel by ΔΕΗ), which is 5% of the total (3.29% in 2022).

In the first 3 places in the list of investors: the Netherlands with an investment volume of 9.695 billion euros (20% of the total), Germany with 5.886 billion euros (12.15%) and Austria with 5.402 billion euros (11.15%).

Number of Romanian companies with Greek capital participation, writes CNN Greece has 8,624, 3.45% of the total (compared to 8,398 companies, 3.42% of the total).
