After the shooting near Stockholm, which resulted in the death of a 39-year-old Polish citizen after a remark to teenagers, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson attended a spontaneous memorial: “Nothing is more important than ending violence.”
A man was shot in the head in an underground passage in front of his son after he “got into an altercation” with a group of teenagers. Father and son were going to the pool on Wednesday evening. A tragic incident occurred in the Stockholm suburb of Skärholmen. According to the prime minister, systemic crime threatens a “free and open society” quotes Euronews: “We have crossed another line.”
Over the past month, the publication notes, this is the third outbreak of violence. Arriving at the scene of the tragedy, the Prime Minister said:
“Shoot a man who has nothing to do with [к преступному миру]. To do this in front of his son. This is a ruthless crime. This is unimaginable cruelty. We, as a society, should not tolerate such inhumane, bestial treatment.”
There are no reports of arrests of criminals. Shootings are becoming more frequent in the kingdom, where criminal gangs are fighting for control of the drug market. Over the past 2023, 363 cases of shooting were recorded, 53 of them were fatal.
Since 2013, according to statistics, the number of murders in Sweden has doubled, which was provoked by rampant drug trafficking. Gangs recruit teenagers because they are not criminally responsible. Some criminals are under twelve years of age.
