A French athlete set a new world record among men and women: she climbed a rope to the second floor of the Eiffel Tower using only the strength of her arms.
The dream of 34-year-old Anouk Garnier has come true, writes euronews. To break the previous record, she needed only 18 minutes to conquer a height of 110 meters. The purpose of the sporting event is good – raising funds for the League Against Cancer. The two-time world steeplechase champion trained for a year. On this day, friends and relatives came to support the athlete. Anouk Garnier says:
“There were many ups and downs along the way to this record. The weather was not always my ally, and we had to coordinate the actions of everyone involved in this monumental project. But I never stopped believing in it. The satisfaction and joy I get from “There's even more of this today. This is a crazy dream come true.”
The previous world record was held by South African athlete Thomas Van Tonder, who climbed 90 meters on a rope between the Soweto Towers in Johannesburg in 2020.
