Non-binary Eurovision participant tipped to win (video)

For the first time in the history of the Eurovision Song Contest, this year's winner could be 24-year-old non-binary participant – representative of Switzerland Nemo.

Bookmakers are talking about this reports Daily Mail. Nemo's song “The Code”, according to the singer, talks about how they realize their non-binary identity and hope that they can perform in the competition for the entire LGBT+ community. One of the song competition experts says:

“The thinking is that if Nemo hits all those high notes and shows off all those different styles, they'll score very highly among the judges, but it's hard to know what audiences will decide because there's no real precedent. It's a very unique song that pushes the envelope.”

By the way, when referring to non-binary people, it is customary to use the pronoun “they”. The famous linguistic dictionary of the English language, published in the USA, has added a new meaning to the word “they”. Now this pronoun can be used in relation to a person who considers himself neither a man nor a woman. Critics consider this to be grammatically incorrect; supporters of the innovation argue that such use is characteristic of ancient times.

The Eurovision 24 Song Contest will take place in Malmö. The first and second semi-finals will take place on May 7 and 9, and the grand final on May 11. Greece will speak third in the second semi-final.

*Non-binary is a general term for all those who reject the idea of dividing the sexes into male and female, since the concept of gender is much broader. While there are countless types of non-binary identities, some people identify only as “non-binary” without specifying the definition.
