Maternity benefit: platform to open at the end of March

At the end of March, the platform for paying maternity benefits to self-employed workers is expected to be activated.

Insured women will receive nine months’ minimum wage (currently 780 euros), for a total of 7,020 euros in addition to the amount they receive during pregnancy and childbirth.

“At the end of the month, we are opening a platform for the payment of maternity benefits, which will now be received by self-employed women, as well as women farmers, for nine months,” said Labor Minister Domna Mikhailidou.

Beneficiary mothers must be insured to receive benefits, i.e. not be in debt to the electronic National Social Security Agency (e-EFKA). If they still have debts, they will be excluded from the lists of those receiving benefits. Citizens will be able to be restored to the register only when all the debt is repaid.

A necessary condition for mothers will be submitting a digital application to receive – within 9 months after the birth of the child – benefits corresponding to the minimum wage, just like employed mothers. In fact, the benefit will be applied retroactively. This will also apply to mothers who give birth in the 14 weeks before the end of 2023 and in particular from 24 September 2023. Thus, mothers who gave birth in September will receive 3,900 euros retroactively for a period of 5 months at the end of February or beginning of March, and until June they will receive a total of 7,020 euros.

The Minister of Labor has made it clear that mothers who apply to DYPA before signing the ministerial decision and activating the platform, they usually receive the benefit as soon as the formalization process begins. The right will also be partially transferred to the father (within 7 months).

Working mothers of former ΤΑΥΤΕΚΩ, ΕΤΑΠ- are also entitled to this benefit.ΜΜΕ And ΕΔΟΕΑΠwho, according to current legislation, received only maternity and labor benefits from their institution.
