The world’s most dangerous cyber group LockBit has been neutralized


The LockBit cyber group, whose activities were stopped, has more than three and a half thousand victims.

LockBit’s activities were stopped by an international coalition of law enforcement agencies. Fourteen countries, led by the UK, participated in Operation Kronos, with the cooperation of the FBI and Europol. During it, 34 servers and 11 thousand domains used by LockBit to distribute ransomware were seized. More than 200 cryptocurrency accounts have been frozen. Two people have been arrested in Poland and Ukraine. FBI Deputy Assistant Director for Cyber ​​Operations Brett Lederman says:

“Criminals associated with LockBit have caused significant harm to thousands of victims in our countries and around the world. In recent years, the group has operated indiscriminately, targeting organizations associated with government agencies, hospitals, schools and prominent global companies.”

According to the FBI, cyber extortionists have reported more than three and a half thousand victims. attacks Worldwide. Among them are Boeing, the American division of ICBC bank, and the British post office. The FBI is currently tracking 144 million ransoms linked to LockBit.

The group, as the investigation revealed, is mainly Russian-speaking and, as a rule, does not attack countries of the former USSR. According to UK National Crime Agency director Graham Biggar, LockBit may have hundreds of members, but there is no evidence that any state, such as Russia, is behind the syndicate.
