Spring depression – how to cope with it

How to get rid of the spring blues: expert advice on nutrition and vitamin therapy.

After a long, slushy winter, even the timid spring sun does not add optimism – complete apathy, the brain completely refuses to act actively, and half-forgotten chronic diseases simply strive to remind themselves at every opportunity and demand due attention. Spring…

Causes of spring impotence

You shouldn’t be surprised by seasonal depression and the body’s categorical refusal to work at full capacity. Just look back and remember:

  • long winter evenings watching TV instead of active sports or at least walks;
  • an abundance of rich and fatty foods instead of vegetable and fruit salads;
  • a series of seasonal colds, and even severe flu.

In a word, the body is literally exhausted by negative factors and, exhausted, urgently requires support and help. It is quite possible for anyone to provide them.

How to get rid of winter inactivity

The easiest way to start the fight against spring ailments is by walking along the alleys of the park or along the seashore. An hour-long promenade under the first spring rays of the sun will not only add attractiveness to facial skin that has slightly withered over the winter, but will also saturate every cell with oxygen, improve metabolism and significantly improve weakened immunity.

Without the opportunity to take long walks every day, take this at least three times a week, for 30-40 minutes. Active jogging or just leisurely walking, rollerblading or cycling, exercises on the horizontal bar – no matter what type of active recreation you choose, any of them will activate your brain, give you the necessary boost of energy and reliably relieve you of the blues.

A contrast shower after returning will enhance positive emotions and add a bit of vigor. Important: cleaning the house, physical work and walking to work are not at all equivalent to active recreation in nature.

Nutritional features in spring

With all the desire to quickly saturate the body starving for vitamins, it will not be possible to do this in full yet, alas. However, it is quite possible for anyone to ensure that dill, parsley, and green onions are always present on the table. Instead of the usual cup of coffee for breakfast, try drinking a glass of carrot or apple juice, rosehip infusion and feel a surge of strength.

It is very useful at this time of year to diversify the menu with salads made from boiled beets with olive oil, and actively consume legume dishes. Honey, nuts, seafood, dried apricots – all these products will reliably relieve a bad mood, help the brain think more logically and more productively, and significantly improve memory.

Vitamin therapy

Vitamins are responsible for the smooth functioning of all body systems. At a time when there are enough fresh vegetables and fruits on the table, there is no need to think about their lack. But in the spring, after a monotonous winter diet and cloudy days, many people notice dull hair, painful cracks in the corners of the mouth, dry skin, increased fatigue and bleeding gums.

All these signs unmistakably indicate a vitamin deficiency and require its replenishment. With the abundance of all kinds of vitamin complexes in pharmacies, it is not difficult to purchase any of them, but it is still advisable to consult with a doctor, who will advise the necessary drug and determine the individual dose of its administration.

Proper nutrition in the fight against vitamin deficiency

Try to do it on your own, without pharmacy vitamins, relying on products containing the necessary substances:

  1. Vitamin C – responsible for immunity. If its content is insufficient, there is increased dry skin, bleeding gums, painful colds and chronic fatigue. In spring it can be found in cabbage, grapefruit, kiwi and oranges.
  2. Vitamin A – this deficiency makes you worry about hair that has lost its shine, brittle nails or too dry skin, or the lost ability to see well in the dark. It is worth looking for it in carrots, liver, fish, sour cream and butter, cabbage.
  3. Vitamin E – its deficiency, which can be replenished with nuts and sunflower oil, causes painful menstruation and absent-mindedness.
  4. B vitamins They are distinguished by the peculiarity of not being regularly taken into the body; they are not able to accumulate in it. They are responsible for painful cracks in the mucous membranes, poor memory, dandruff, heart pain and irritability. Buckwheat porridge, cheese, bananas, nuts, rice and legumes can help cope with unpleasant symptoms.

Spring depression

It’s a strange feeling – the long-awaited sun is outside, the first tender leaves are pecking, but my soul is cloudy and unpleasant, complete powerlessness and indifference. This is a real seasonal depression in the classic version, and you should never give in to it.

In addition to vitamins and the right menu, love for yourself and your family will help you cope with it. It’s good to treat yourself to something tasty, buy a small but bright new thing, buy some cosmetics, change your hairstyle – you never know the different options to express your affection and sympathy for your own person.

Daily warm baths with the addition of soothing herbs and aromatic additives, a glass of warm milk or tea with honey before bed, family trips out of town or a leisurely evening walk with a loved one are great help. The main thing is not to give any indulgence to bad mood and irritability. Remember that the reason for them lies simply in the annual change of seasons.
