They became the first: announcement of the marriage of a same-sex couple in Nea Smyrni


The first announcement of a same-sex couple getting married in Greece appeared this morning.

IN published A report in the Greek newspaper Ta Nea states that the wedding ceremony will take place in the Athens district of Nea Smyrni. Dimitrios Elefsiniotis and Stavros Gavrielides announced a significant event in their lives a few hours before the adoption of the corresponding bill in parliament. The message reads: “Dimitrios Eleusiniotis, born in Salamis and residing in Nea Smyrni, and Stavros Gavrielides, born in Athens and residing in Nea Smyrni, are invited to the wedding to take place in Nea Smyrni.”

“Ο Δημήτριος Ελευσινιώτης του Σπυρίδωνα και της Άννας, το γένος Βυλλι ? κής και ο Σταύρος Γαβριηλίδης του Χρήστου και της Ευγενίας, το γένος Δρό σου, που γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα Αττικής και κατοικεί στη Νέα Σμύρνη, θα έλθουν σε γάμο που θα γίνει στη Νέα Σμύρνη Αττικής.”

Previously our publication reported, that the government bill on same-sex marriage entitled “Equality in civil marriage, amendments to the Civil Code and other provisions” has been adopted by the Greek Parliament. The bill was approved by the Greek Parliament with 176 votes in favor, 76 voted against, and two deputies were “present.” Thus, marriage of same-sex couples is now the law of the state.
