The Minister of Immigration and Asylum, Dimitris Keridis, speaking on ΣΚΑΙ TV, made a shocking statement, claiming that the adoption of minor children by LGBTQ+ couples has geostrategic importance in the conflict between the West and Russia!
The minister emphasized in a statement that Greece has more “neoliberal view” to Orthodoxy than in Russia. Someone needs to remind him that Orthodoxy is one in any country, and make one thing clear: it recognizes only one marriage, and that is “marriage in the Lord,” which was blessed by the Lord Jesus Christ himself and was contracted between a man and a woman. You cannot be an Orthodox Christian if you accept such a “marriage” by definition. This is not a matter of “neoliberal understanding”, this is the basis of Christianity.
D. Keridis tried to justify this statement by blaming… Russia. “Even this has its significance in the geostrategic competition between the West, on the one hand, which accepts LGBT rights and is an open, liberal society, and Russia, which fights these problems with fanaticism and through its systems, such as, for example, the Moscow Patriarchate, in opposition to a more liberal reading of Orthodoxy,” – Keridis said on the Skai TV channel.

It is worth noting that the Greek Church declared its strong disagreement with this law. And, despite the rather sluggish position of the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Jerome personally, she sent out a statement to all parishes in which she condemned this law, calling it contrary to Christianity.
