US elections: Biden’s gap from Trump has narrowed

The gap between current and former US presidents has narrowed. However, many Americans consider both Biden and Trump too old to govern.

How notes Reuters, the gap between Joe Biden and his potential rival in the elections is not very significant, despite the publication of a report by a special adviser that cast doubt on the mental acuity of the current head of state. However, almost 60% of Americans believe that both presidential candidates are too old.

Trump is supported by 37% of respondents, Biden by 34%. The poll has a margin of error of 2.9%. Last month, a poll showed Trump leading by 6%.

Approximately 10% of respondents said they planned to vote for other candidates, 12% said they would not vote at all, and 8% declined to answer. The poll came days after special counsel Robert Gur released a 388-page report calling out President “an elderly person with poor memory”.

One in four Republicans and about half of independents said they would not vote for Trump if a jury found him guilty of a felony.

An ABC News/Ipsos poll found that 86% of Americans think Biden is too old to remain in office. But more than half of respondents, 59%, think they are both too old.
