According to political scientist Werner Patzelt (70), Scholz “gains hope of winning the election thanks to Trump’s ‘enemy image’, especially within his own party and among traditional SPD voters”. SPD Defense Minister Boris Pistorius could also successfully distinguish himself from the American Trump, who is increasingly less willing to defend Europe.
Scholz can present himself as the savior of Europe from the “enemy” Trump-US – the best position for the European elections in June, as well as for the Bundestag elections in 2025.
