Police in western Greece have arrested a 55-year-old man who repeatedly beat his 98-year-old mother on Sunday evening.
The victim’s cries for help alerted neighbors in the village of Karaiskakis, near the town of Arta, who immediately called the police.
The woman was taken to the hospital, with marks from the blows all over her body. At present, her life is not in danger, as the frail elderly woman was not seriously injured, despite the brutal attack by her son.
Neighbors talk about a man who was often violent.
After spending the night in custody, the 55-year-old was brought to court on charges of “domestic violence.” His trial will continue on Tuesday, state broadcaster reported. ERT.
