In a few hours after the execution of the leader the capital’s largest mafia group, a 44-year-old Vangelis Zambunis in the Neos Kosmos region, the newly appointed Minister of Citizen Protection Michalis Chrysochoidis, fired all police leadership.
This is the largest resignation in police leadership in recent years.
It has already been decided who will replace the lieutenant generals of southern and northern Greece, and the post of chief of police is expected to be taken over by a lieutenant general, who is the personal choice of Michalis Chrysochoidis.
This is one of the current leaders EL.AS., who enjoys the absolute confidence of the new Minister of Citizen Protection.
