The use of a fireplace as a means of heating a home has become quite widespread in recent years. Residents of Greece asked a reasonable question: “Can they transport firewood in their car?”
The weather is changing, and according to weather forecasters, cold weather is coming. It would seem that nothing could be simpler – go to the forest for firewood. However, according to the current legislation in Greece, the driver cannot go to the “source” (in the countryside, in the mountains) and bring firewood from there, since this the movement is considered commercial and cannot be carried out using a personal vehicle, a car. The same goes for van or pickup truck owners.
The only time someone can transport firewood in their vehicle is if they purchase it from a retail store and can present a sales receipt for the load upon possible inspection.
Even if you purchased firewood legally, you need to keep in mind that “it is prohibited to load and transport logs on the roof of a car.” Also, when driving, you need to be very careful so that the load does not shift, and sawn tree trunks do not block your view (if you are transporting them in the back of an open truck.
Of course, problems with firewood can be avoided by simply calling the company that sells this product. Many (almost all of them) offer the opportunity to deliver wood to the home of an interested buyer.
