Kalivia: “I don’t know how many times I stabbed him,” testimony of a 16-year-old parricide

In his apology, the juvenile killer stated that his father systematically abused him, emphasizing: “What I did was wrong. I regret this action. But I feel relieved, I am free.”

The testimony of the 16-year-old who killed his father in their home in Kalyvia, in Attica, is shocking.

“I don’t know how many times I stabbed him. I think he said to me, ‘Why are you killing me?’ He walked down the stairs and I kept stabbing him.”, he said, describing the brutal murder. And in conclusion he said: “Since I’ve managed to come this far after everything I’ve been through, I’m happy.”

On December 22, 2023, a 16-year-old stabbed his father to death.

He went for a walk in the center of Athens with his mother and brother. But he received a call from his father, who reproached him for making the wrong choice. “I was very offended by him and decided to end this drama in which we lived,” – said the teenager.

He ambushed him
The offended teenager returned home shortly after 9 pm that same day and, apparently, had already decided what his next step would be. He ambushed his father, holding two kitchen knives, and stabbed him 20 times. Moreover, due to the force of the impact, one of them broke, so the police found the handle and blade of the knife in different places.

The 71-year-old man, having been stabbed dozens of times, tried to escape his son’s arms and began running down the stairs until he fell dead in the courtyard of the house in a pool of blood.

“I feel relieved”

I don’t know how many times I stabbed him. The night before I ran away from home, and for him it was a big offense. I knew that when he returned, he would make me suffer as he had done before.

All these years I saw nothing but beatings. He locked me in a closet without water or food. When I heard the sound of the door opening, I was blinded. I knew he was going to hurt me. I picked up two knives. I regretted it, but on the other hand I felt relieved because I no longer had anything to fear. Not yourself, not your family. I suffered so much, but since I managed to come this far, I’m happy.”

Earlier, family members and friends of the teenager appeared before a juvenile inspector. Their goal was to bolster his defense’s contention that he was a victim of chronic abuse. The perpetrator’s mother and older brother confirmed his allegations of abuse of their three children by the deceased in a statement to authorities.

The prosecutor charged the guy with manslaughter, illegal carrying of a weapon and use of a weapon. The teenager was released with the consent of the prosecutor and investigator.
