Igor Strelkov is running for President of the Russian Federation – the initiative group supported his nomination

Supporters of Igor Strelkov (Girkin) collected 500 signatures – this is exactly what is needed to nominate him as a candidate for the post of President of Russia.

How reports Radio Liberty, the initiative group supported the nomination of the former commander of the Donetsk separatists, FSB reserve colonel Igor Strelkov (Girkin) as a candidate for the presidency. The meeting participants collected 566 signatures. The event was supposed to end at 16:00 Moscow time, but was delayed due to queues for registration and the absence of a notary, reports DW:

“The notary never arrived – the initiative group promised to carry out the actions that require his participation tomorrow. The group also suggested sending the missing documents (for example, photos of passports) via Telegram.”

It is quite possible that due to the absence of a notary at the meeting, Strelkov’s registration will be denied. Representatives of the CEC were not present at the meeting. But supporters of Girkin, who is in a pre-trial detention center, expressed their position. A representative of Strelkov’s headquarters, Yevgeny Skripnik (call sign “Prapor”) proposed “killing as many Ukrainian military personnel as possible, bringing Russians to power in Ukraine and raising the “Russian question.”

Strelkov is in jail. The so-called former head of the DPR Ministry of Defense has been charged under the article on calls for extremist activity. The reason was his posts in the telegram channel. Strelkov faces up to five years in prison. The criminal case against Strelkov was excited July 18. In November Strelkov announced about his intention to participate in the presidential elections.
