Kalamata: "I’m alive and dead" – dog attack victim recounts nightmare a year later

Dog attack victim Agapi Costea talks about the nightmare she experienced a year ago in Kalamata. She could not have imagined that one morning in September 2022, as she was getting ready for work, she would suddenly be attacked by a pack of dogs. As a result, she was hospitalized with serious injuries throughout her body.

A year after the attack, she is afraid of dogs and even just thinking about them

Agapi Costea, a 34-year-old mother of two minor children, tells Mega about the attack that almost took her life. When she saw the dogs approaching her threateningly, she tried to defend herself by falling to the ground. By luck, she managed to avoid dog bites on her head and neck.

Two women passing by heard her desperate cries and rushed to help. The victim was taken to hospital with injuries to her shoulder, legs and right arm, and was unconscious for several minutes.

Agapi still shudders at the thought of dogs to this day, fearing that a similar incident could happen again, which was especially evident in her reaction during an interview with Live News. In particular, a dog walked past her and she looked scared.

Thessaloniki: what the 37-year-old owner of the dogs that mauled a 50-year-old woman said

Clearly touched, she expressed Deepest condolences to the family of the 50 year old woman from Thessalonikiov.

Initially, speaking about the death of a woman from Thessaloniki who was mauled to death by dogs a few days ago, she, clearly moved, expressed her sincere condolences to the victim’s family, as she fully felt the pain and grief based on her own experience.

“It’s hard to find words and feelings, only pain, I wish her little soul to rest in peace. A year later I’m alive, but also dead, because I still have nightmares and I’m afraid of dogs. My son forgot something “, and I took it to him. I saw a small dog on the street and could not speak, even say the word “dog”. I could not express my thoughts and returned home, unable to continue. I still have this phobia,” – she says, remembering the shock of the attack last year, and still cannot overcome the fear.

“Dogs need training”

“It’s one thing to be an animal lover and another to keep citizens safe. It goes without saying that we should love animals and not treat them cruelly, but we should show respect for our fellow human beings. You must train the dog, because when going outside, she will meet a child or person. I also want a dog, but I don’t feel strong enough to get one yet.”“, she said, expressing the opinion that dogs must first of all be trained correctly.
