Erdogan accused Greece of “training terrorists” – K. Mitsotakis did not answer

Despite active advertising of positive negotiations between Greece and Turkey, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in his joint statements with Kyriakos Mitsotakis in the M. Maximos building, accused our country of “training terrorists.”

The Turkish president directly accused Greece of maintaining “terrorist” training centers on its territory, meaning Lavrio and the Kurds, and also spoke about the “Turkish” minority in Thrace. Relevant links from Erdogan (including on the Cyprus issue):

“With Mr. Mitsotakis, we discussed how we can develop cooperation in the fight against terrorism. I once again expressed our expectations in the fight against terrorism, and we welcomed the closure of the Lavrion camp. I emphasized that care must be taken to avoid the formation of such camps , which would give refuge to terrorists in Greece.

The Turkish minority in Greece and the Romaiko (meaning ρωμαίικη, Greeks who live in Turkey) minority in our country are integral parts of our human and cultural wealth. Strengthening the peace and tranquility of minorities will have a positive impact on relations. I expressed our hopes for an improvement in the situation of the Turkish minority of Western Thrace in accordance with the requirements of international law. Achieving a just, lasting and sustainable solution to the Cyprus problem, based on the realities of the island, will benefit the entire region.”

At the end of the Turkish President’s speech, Kyriakos Mitsotakis took the floor and answered a question about the Muslim minority, but said nothing about the Greek minority in Istanbul, which is disappearing, and did not utter a word about the accusations of “terrorist training”!

“Comment on minorities. There is a Muslim minority in Thrace. Thrace is an example of harmonious coexistence of Christians and Muslims. Equal opportunities for the Muslims of Thrace. The term “Muslim” is defined by the Treaty of Lausanne. Let us ensure and strengthen a good climate, and let me assure you that the Greek The government will continue to work in this direction”said the Prime Minister of Greece.
