Don Leon: rapper who blew up ATMs charged with attempted murder


The famous Greek rapper “Don Leon”, arrested in connection with the ATM bombings, has been charged with attempted murder.

The prosecutor, based on the evidence contained in the preliminary investigation, included in the indictment crimes related to attempted premeditated murder and serial murder. According to the information, this crime was not included in the transmittal letter, but was added later when the prosecution reviewed the evidence in the case file.

In particular, the crime relates to a chase that took place in Aigio after an ATM robbery, and is attributed to all three defendants.

  • shooting unnecessarily.

“Don Leon”, who will give evidence to the inquest on Wednesday, is said to only admit his involvement in the latest “group in white” raid in Hermione, and not all the attacks for which he is accused.

As the police announced, during the arrest of three gang members, among other things, they found M-16 assault rifle. The M16 is an American-origin weapon used by the US military. What impresses the authorities even more is that this weapon, despite the fact that it has a serial number, does not appear in the system database as stolen or missing. Authorities are investigating and consider it particularly serious how the weapons ended up in the hands of criminals. In other words, what route did it take and through what hands did it pass until it arrived in Greece and ended up in the hands of a criminal group.

According to Greek media reports, authorities suspect that M-16 sent from the territory of Ukraine by smugglers involved in the export of weapons, as previously reported several times. Detection M-16 became the first such find in Greece. Given ongoing reports of active arms smuggling from the war zone, authorities fear that following M-16 will also bring heavier weapons to Greece from Ukraine, such as grenade launchers and air defense missiles.
