The Holy Synod, held on November 16-17, banned the Bishop of Troas, Vicar of the Belgian Metropolis of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, Peter. About it reports the website of the Patriarchate of Constantinople.
In the Phanar communiqué the reason for the ban of Bishop Peter is not indicatedA. However, according to the website “Vima Orthodoxy“, back in 2016 (a little more than a year after his consecration) he refused to serve in the Patriarchate of Constantinople and left for Greece, where, with the blessing of the Metropolitan of Patras of the Greek Orthodox Church Chrysostomos, he performed divine services in the city of Patras. He also intended to petition the Phanar to convert to the Church of Greece.
In addition, the Synod of the Church of Constantinople temporarily banned Bishop Irenaeus of Eumenia from serving as vicar of Patriarch Bartholomew. As punishment, he was sent to the monastery of the Lady of Angels, which is located in the region of Chania, in Greece.
Also, the vicar of Patriarch Bartholomew, Bishop of Dorilee Damascus, received a temporary ban. He was sent to the Holy Trinity Monastery in Zangorolone, which is located in the same nome of Chania.
The reason for the ban of Bishop Irenaeus and Bishop Damascus is not specified.
