AADE: 1.4 million tax evasion violations amounting to more than 33 million euros identified

Created by the DALL-E platform

During inspections of the Independent Administration of State Revenue (AADE), thousands of enterprises were identified with violations related to the failure to issue and transfer tax information, as well as numerous cases where payments were made by plastic cards, but the enterprise did not issue and transfer the relevant documents to the tax authorities.

These businesses were reportedly closed for 48 hours and fines imposed. More specifically, from the beginning of the year to October 31:

  • 67 thousand inspections were carried out (31% with violations)
  • 1.4 million violations recorded with a net hidden value of €33 million plus VAT of over €7 million
  • 830 businesses were closed for 48 hours
  • a financial fine was imposed on 170 businesses (we are talking about hotels and other businesses whose closure is not intended in connection with their customer service facility).

It is worth recalling that AADE has placed particular emphasis on targeted controls this year as they are the result of a specific risk analysis algorithm based on the wider tax behavior of businesses. At the same time, unscheduled on-site inspections continue. The expansion of the auditors’ mission to enterprises located in jurisdictions other than the one in which they operate also played an important role in the success of auditing activities.

At the same time, extensive cross-checks and data from the digital platforms e-send and myDATA, combined with transaction data from cash registers, significantly contributed to the focus of audits.
