US Navy officer Lisa Franchetti has previously served in several leadership positions. On November 2, the US Senate approved her candidacy for the post of head of the Navy – Admiral Mike Gilday retired due to his length of service.
Lisa Franchetti became the first woman not only in this position, but also a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, reports Radio Liberty.
Franchetti previously served as Director of Strategy, Plans and Policy (2020-2022), Second Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Warfare Development (2020), and Commander of the U.S. Sixth Fleet (2018-2020).
