From Monday 23 October 2023, a ban has been introduced on the sale of heated tobacco products with additives that change their smell and taste.
The ban applies throughout the European Union, writes BB.LV. We are talking about flavorings that create the impression of safe smoking. The new rules apply to any components of such products: filters, paper, packaging, capsules containing flavorings, or any other technical elements that change the taste or smell of tobacco.
A ban on the use of flavorings in regular cigarettes has been in effect in the European Union since 2020. However, restrictions do not yet apply to electronic cigarettes. However, from January 1, 2025, restrictions on flavorings will be established for them as well.
Experts say flavorings reduce the perceived health risks of smoking and therefore attract more people to use tobacco products.
