Angelina Jolie charms the Greeks during the filming of “Maria” (video)

Hollywood star Angelina Jolie is filming her new film “Maria” in Greece. The actress portrays the great Greek soprano Maria Callas in the biographical drama directed by Pablo Larrain.

The film is reportedly set during the final years of Callas’ life in the 1970s, when she lived in Paris. Filming began in Budapest in October 2023, with other filming locations including Paris, Greece and Milan.

Jolie’s arrival in the country caused a stir among lifestyle reporters, photographers and cameramen, all trying to catch an exclusive snapshot or even a statement.

The award-winning actress arrived by private helicopter in Katakolo, in the southern Peloponnese, on Friday and immediately went to the hotel where she was staying, accompanied by her sons Maddox and Pax, and seven bodyguards. She stayed at the hotel until Monday morning to film scenes at the Apollo Theater located in the Ilias Tower.

On Monday morning, the star of the film, Pablo Larreina, avoided communication with the reporters who were waiting for her. She did, however, give a brief, shy greeting to reporters and spectators, who cheered as she left the Apollo Theater. After filming in the theater, which lasted four hours, the entire film crew was transported to Aristotle Onassis’s yacht, the legendary Christina O.

Much of the filming in Greece takes place aboard the 99.13-metre luxury yacht that once belonged to Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis, with whom Maria Callas had a passionate but unsuccessful relationship for ten years.

Angelina Jolie is due to leave Greece on the evening of Tuesday, October 17, after filming wraps.

While Jolie is looking for privacy and tranquility, her sons and the film crew are enjoying a trip to Greece and seafood delicacies.

Local media patrisnews.gr proudly publishes a selfie of Jolie’s sons taken with tavern owners. One of the local residents also reported that Maddox was drinking a cocktail at a nearby table. Maddox and Pax are members of the film crew, notes patrisnews.
