750 cameras will be installed in Attica to combat crime and traffic violations

In order to prevent violations and unfavorable situations on the roads, which residents of the region face almost every day, the authorities decided to develop and implement a special plan.

The directive provides for an increased presence of traffic police on the streets (to establish and monitor order), and also includes the fight against “chronic offenders” (repeat offenders) through tough measures, such as deprivation of driving licenses.

Today on ERT, Mr. Ikonomou mentioned a plan to combat traffic jams on Kifissos Avenue by establishing control and having police officers on duty there at all times with tow trucks and cranes. The reasons that lead to traffic jams on a given highway are many, but one element is of particular interest: from December 2021 to December 2022, monthly traffic jams are recorded. 90 cases of car breakdowns – only in Kifissos. Because of this, kilometer-long traffic jams instantly form on the roadway.

Plans ΕΛΑΣ There are also plans to modernize the ΓΑΔΑ and Katehaki operations centers. In addition, “smart cameras” will be provided to help the traffic police, i.e. 750 stationary surveillance cameras (monitoring the roadway) have been installed throughout Attica. This will be done, as noted, both to solve traffic problems and to fight crime.
