Revenge is “a dish served cold”: how A. Tsipras “made” S. Kasselakis president of SYRIZA

Is there at least one person in this country who believes that S. Kasselakis would have won the internal elections in SYRIZA and would have become its president if not for the support of A. Tsipras, asks Theophrastos Andreopoulos, editor of the Greek publication ProNews?

It is no coincidence that S. Kasselakis himself announced just three days ago that he was “stepping on” the political legacy of Andreas Papandreou and Alexis Tsipras. He mentions the first because he intends to create the old PASOK on the basis of the political formation of SYRIZA, and the second because he will become his successor and an expression of his political revenge.

Former SYRIZA President A. Tsipras never forgot that shortly before the elections he was undermined by strange and erroneous statements about… taxation of freelancers and that those who have an income of 5 thousand euros are… bourgeois. It was these statements that convinced a significant part of potential Syriza voters to abstain from participating in the elections and not go to the polls.

Moreover, this can be judged by the absolute numbers of votes. ND won the election with 41% not because it won more voters, but because a significant proportion of those who voted for Syriza in the 2019 elections did not go to the polls, apparently disappointed by these statements.

A few hours after Tsipras’ resignation we wrote that the former president of SYRIZA can create his own party, which will move more towards the center, and which will include representatives of all political parties.

Perhaps this is not necessary, since Stefanos Kasselakis is able to do the same in SYRIZA, having a significant advantage over A. Tsipras: he is politically indestructible! This is a person who, like A. Tsipras, has leadership qualities, shows that he knows the “game” for the public and at the same time does not have a series of political failures behind him.

Stefanos Kasselakis won a historic victoryas did Alexis Tsipras, who finally returned to the leadership of Syriza “through the back porch.”

This became evident when Nikos Pappas, a close friend of A. Tsipras, fully supported S. Kasselakis, giving him the 8% he received in the first round to obtain an absolute majority in the second round.

It also became obvious that the former Minister of Defense Evangelos Apostolakis was always next to the new President of SYRIZA S. Kasselakis, and it should also be noted the position of many members of the Umbrella against the former leader of SYRIZA, who, in their opinion, “gave an advantage” to this candidate over E.Akhcioglu.

Former Prime Minister and President of PS SYRIZA Alexis Tsipras received his successor at noon on September 25 in his office in Parliament. It is reported that there will be a brief interaction between A. Tsipras and S. Kasselakis on various issues in connection with the latter’s assumption of office, but essentially everything will come down to the fact that the former president of SYRIZA will pass on the “ring” of succession to the next one.

In fact, A. Tsipras has never been as happy as he is now. He took revenge on all those who “saved” his positions, installed a person in the leadership of the party who enjoyed his absolute trust, and he will still be able to play a key role in the political events of the country.

However, recent history knows a similar character who put “his” man at the helm of power, but after a few years he lost most of his property and ended up in prison. We are talking about Kolomoisky and Zelensky. And in our case, given the powerful overseas support, it is still unknown how this “misdirected Cossack” will come back to Alexis Tsipras.
