Kifissia: Parents of teenagers control high-crime areas

Violations committed against teenagers in the area of ​​Kifissia, where wealthy citizens live, have recently become more frequent.

Parents and, in general, the public try to control the situation in a cautious and unobtrusive way in order to prevent trouble. Parents created the Kifissia Watch initiative group.

Here is what one of the members of the “group of vigilantes” told journalists of the ERT channel. “This is an initiative in which we bring together parents and citizens of the municipality of Kifisia to monitor the situation in places where teenagers usually hang out. Citizens are present nearby, quietly watching the guys in order to notify the police if necessary,” Mr. Asfis said.

If we talk about areas where teenagers gather, then this is the grove of Kifisia (Kefalari) and the shopping center. There have already been several arrests of juvenile delinquents.

“We do not interfere in any of the incidents. It is not our responsibility to intervene. In fact, we only observe what is happening around. And in case of detecting any malicious behavior of teenagers, we call the police,” Mr. Asfis stressed. And he concluded: “This is not even a patrol. We are just walking. In fact, everything we do is a walk in order to prevent anything illegal.”
