Income up to 10,000 euros was declared by 6 out of 10 taxpayers

Income up to 10,000 euros declared 6 out of 10 taxpayersbased on the information of the Greek tax office, which is engaged in the acceptance and processing of declarations on the financial income of citizens for 2022.

Also 7 out of 10 freelancers also reported earnings in this range.

In particular, out of 6,605,272 tax returns filed in 2023 and processed by AADE, 3,757,535 declared an annual income of up to 10,000 euros.

Also, according to the results of data processing, two out of ten taxpayers, or 20.4% of those who filed income, had a monthly income of 83 euros.

Also 659,258 taxpayers declared zero income. In addition, 37% of individuals had an annual income of up to 5,000 euros.

More than a million households can be classified as middle class, reporting their income in the range of 20,000 to 50,000 euros.

Besides, only 1,004 taxpayers have declared incomes above 900,000 euros.

The taxpayers also own 5,423,700 cars, 100,071 pleasure boats, 906 private planes and helicopters that are registered in their name. Taxpayers also have 4,756,144 primary residences (κύριες κατοικίες), 935,404 primary secondary (πρώτες δευτερεύουσες) and 194,449 secondary secondary (δεύτερες δε υτερεύουσες κατοικίες) places of residence, i.e. 1 or 2 additional properties: residential (apartments or ( i) houses), houses in the village or country houses.

In addition, 17,762 households declare to the tax authorities that their residence has an outdoor pool and 307 people that they have an indoor pool in their house*.

*According to the data of the Greek Tax Service, back in 2009, the property of Greek citizens was at least 100 thousand private pools, and every year another 6-7 thousand are added. That is, from April 2009 to April 2023, the number of such pools increased by at least 80,000 and approached 180,000. That is, only 10% of the existing pools are indicated in the declaration.

Greece is building "crypto pools"

This is how pools used to be hidden from satellites and drones. Now there is no more hiding. And in vain…

The reason is banal, since 2013, swimming pools, yachts, luxury cars, helicopters and planes, taxed on luxury in counting. And if earlier they were searched with google mapsor drones, now no one is doing this.
