Heat coming from Morocco and Algeria – up to 44°C expected in Greece

The first heat wave of this summer is just around the corner. Meteorologist Sakis Arnautoglu predicts: “The temperature will be up to 44 degrees.”

Warm air masses come to Greece from Algeria and Morocco and, as the meteorologist says, “we are entering a heat wave.” Extreme high temperatures to last for several days.

On Saturday sunny everywhere, clouds on the Thracian Sea, intermittent rain is possible. From the middle of the day there will be clouds in the mountainous continental regions and showers from Kavala to the east of the country. During the day in the center up to 35°C, in the north from 28 to 33°C, in the south up to 32°C, in the west up to 35°C, in the east up to 32°C.

In Attica clear and sunny this morning, temperatures will range from 25 to 35°C.

In Thessaloniki sunny in the morning, partly cloudy in the afternoon. Temperature from 23 to 32°C.

Tomorrow Sunday also expected to be sunny in the morning with some cloud cover in the mountains.

On Monday sunny everywhere, the north wind in the Aegean will increase, reaching 7-8 on the Beaufort scale from the Cyclades to Crete.

On Tuesday sunny cloudless weather, northern winds gradually subside in the Aegean Sea. The temperature in the central regions will rise to 37°C.

On Wednesday windy, air temperature will rise, reaching 38-39°C in the center of the country. Then it will rise even more: it is possible that in the lowlands it will be 43°C, and in some places 44°C.

Yannis Callianos, meteorologist and MP for New Democracy, urges Civil Protection to be on the lookout and states in his post:

“Due to elevated temperatures, low relative humidity, a long period of drought that we seem to be experiencing, as well as local increased northerly winds, which in all likelihood will mainly affect eastern and southern Greece, it would be good if the civil protection was ready and I hope it will do a great job with the fires that may arise. We all hope that there won’t be a single fire, so we all need to be careful. Also, as happens in such cases, places for people who do not have air conditioning in the house, as well as a shelter for homeless and homeless animals, will be required. More information will be released in the coming days.”

Callianos predicts low-lying mercury thermometers to hit 36-37°C on Tuesday, up to 38°C in places. From Wednesday July 12, very warm air masses will gradually begin to raise the temperature to 39-40°C, and locally even higher. The looming heat wave will start from Wednesday July 12, and it is not yet clear how strong it can reach. The temperature can be over 41°C. But this is not fully clarified, and you need to wait another 2 days to be sure. There is also a possibility that it will be a fairly long wave of heatwhich will bore everyone.

Earlier we wrote that Europe, including Greece, this year abnormal heat awaits.
