Berlin is in dire need of an influx of qualified personnel from abroad, so it is necessary to improve the conditions for receiving foreigners.
About it how writes Deutsche Welle, Monika Schnitzer, head of the government’s Council of Economic Experts, or “Council of Wise Men,” said July 3. She believes that Berlin needs to take more measures to increase the influx of personnel in order to cope with the shortage of qualified specialists. Given the level of emigration from Germany, we are talking about about 400,000 new residents per year in this case.
Calling for better reception conditions for immigrants, Monika Schnitzer stated in an interview with the Süddeutsche Zeitung:
“If Intel builds a plant in Magdeburg and wants to attract foreign specialists for it, they should feel welcome there.”
She believes that, in general, the government is moving in the right direction, developing a new law on qualified personnel. However, this is not enough. For example, it is not necessary to require knowledge of the German language from every foreigner who has recently arrived in Germany, but it is better to take care of the knowledge of English by all employees of departments for foreigners.
German government coalition, writes BB.LV, decided to facilitate the employment of skilled workers from countries outside the EU, and developed a bill that allows foreigners who speak German or work in one of the scarce professions to enter Germany, even without a certificate of employment or training. Foreigners with professional qualifications will be allowed to be more flexible in choosing a job, that is, they will be able to work not only in the specialty they studied, but also in others.
Moreover, in some sectors of the economy, if a person has sufficient professional experience, he does not even have to prove his qualifications, which used to take quite a long time. Immigrants without a profession will have the opportunity to acquire it in Germany. The new rules involve the introduction of a point system that will be awarded, for example, for qualifications, professional experience or knowledge of the language.
